ACON’s SFP (small form-factor pluggable) socket is designed to connect a compact, hot-pluggable transceiver module used for both telecommunication and data communications applications. The form factor and electrical interface are specified by a multi-source agreement (MSA). It interfaces a network device motherboard to a copper or fiber optic networking cable. SFP, SFP+, XFP, QSFP, QSFP+ and CFP are all terms for a type of transceivers that plug into a special port with interconnect Socket on a switch or other network device to convert the port to a copper or fiber interface which a copper or longer fiber optic cable can be connected to produce a high speed interconnect link.
